Albert Coates Memorial Scholarships

Bachelor Degrees of Biomedical Science
Since 2003, the Coates Trust, with the help of generous sponsors, has provided second year scholarships to students enrolled in Nursing, Visual Arts, and Biomedical Science courses. The awards are valued at $3,000 each. Scholarships are awarded based on academic results achieved whilst overcoming challenging circumstances.

Eligibility and Due Date
Applications are now open and must be lodged by 4.00pm, Friday 9 August 2024.
Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate Nursing, Visual Arts or Biomedical Science Degree at Federation University Australia at the time of applying for, and if successful, at the time of receipt of the Scholarship.
Candidates must have successfully completed their first year of Nursing, Visual Arts or Biomedical Science degree and be enrolled in the second year of the course.
Both full-time and part-time students from these study areas are eligible for these Scholarships.
Candidates must be an Australian Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia.
Applicants may be required to be interviewed online during the selection process.
Application Process for Albert Coates Scholarships at Federation University Australia
Applications for each of the Federation University Awards are invited in the middle of each academic year, normally closing in July/August. Please refer to the Federation University website for information on how to apply online and a copy of the latest application guidelines and online application form. Each prize given at Federation University Australia is valued at $3,000.
Selection Criteria
- The Scholarships will be presented by Federation University Australia Foundation and the Albert Memorial Trust to the candidates who have:
a: Achieved standards of excellence in their academic record
b: Demonstrated the ability to achieve academically whilst overcoming challenging circumstances as determined by the Albert Coates Memorial Scholarships Selection Committee. These circumstances may involve personal, academic or financial difficulties, for example.
c: Enrolled in the second year of their degree. - The Scholarships shall not necessarily be awarded to the candidate achieving the highest academic standards.
- If no candidates are considered to be of sufficient merit by the Selection Committee, the Scholarships will not be awarded in that year.
- Where more than one candidate is selected for an award, prize money may be split.
